A solid bar in a screw-lid tin about the size of a hockey puck. Warm it between your hands and it melts on contact. No pump, no bottle, nothing to spill.
Cedarwood and sweet orange, about three parts cedar to one. Dry and woody, gone within the hour.

Lip balm

The same six ingredients as the bar, in different proportions. A tube is thinner than a puck and lives in a pocket, so it needs more wax to hold its shape. Beeswax goes from a third of the bar to just over a third here, and coconut oil drops to a twentieth.
The scent load is a fifth of what a leave-on product would carry. You eat some of anything you put on your lips, so the essential oils are capped at one percent and no higher.

We’re still sampling this one. Those numbers are what we’re pouring now, not what we’ve settled on, and if testing moves them we’ll change them here.

You swallow your lip balm
Not all of it, but some, every time you put it on. Over a year it adds up to more than you’d guess.
That’s most of why this one is built the way it is. Tallow, beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil — every one of those is something people cook with. The vitamin E is a supplement. The cedarwood and orange are capped at one percent, a fifth of what we’d put in something that only touches skin.
We’re not going to tell you what’s wrong with whatever is in your pocket right now. We’d rather just say that the list on ours is short enough to read, and made of things that already turn up in a kitchen.
